Shuyak Island

Located in the Kodiak Archipelago in Alaska, Shuyak is the most northern of the island group. The 47,000 acre island is almost entirely  occupied by one of Alaska's most remote sate parks. Port Williams is the only commercially operated facility located on the island. Directly across from Shuyak Island on Afognak Island is the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge as well as  Afognak Island State Park. It is a rarity that you will ever see other people on the island. Port Williams is approximately 85 miles south of the quaint village of Homer and approximately 60 air miles from Kodiak City. This 12 x 11 mile island is home to Alaska Brown Bears and Sitka Blacktail Deer.
